What things can I pour with my g-Spout?
Just about anything. We do not know of any household food or liquid that would cause any damage to the g-Spout. However, heavy substances may push the g-Spout off the side of the pan or bowl.
Can I put my g-Spout in the dishwasher or microwave?
Yes, the g-Spout is dishwasher and microwave safe.
To what types of bowls, buckets, and more does the g-Spout attach?
We designed the g-Spout to clip onto most skillets, pans, bowls and large cans. If the clip fits over the edge, and the wings can make a good seal at the bottom, then it’s fine. There is a training video on the web site for a more visual answer to this question.
The commercial says it will help me strain pasta? How does that work?
Straining pasta is the same as pouring water off when boiling vegetables, or just about anything else that you would boil in a sauce pan. But please note: if you pour something really heavy, like a big pot of spaghetti, make sure the food is not so heavy that it pushes the g-Spout off the side of the pot.
Is the strainer detachable?
Yes, we designed the g-Spout with small “posts” so that the strainer can snap on and off.
Come on—why is it called the g-Spout?
Well, the inventor’s wife is named Gail — so that is part of it. But it really did start as an environmental product to help encourage the proper disposal of cooking grease and oil. So, at first, it was called the “grease spout”. As we found more and more uses for the product like pouring batters, soups, dry goods, etc. it was shortened to g-Spout. It’s a simple name that seems to be easy for people to remember.
It’s made in China, right? Is the quality ok?
YES ABSOLUTELY — The quality is much better than just “OK”. While the g-Spout is manufactured in China, it is made with one of the best food-grade silicones available, and undergo rigorous quality assurance testing to ensure compliance with FDA guidelines. That’s why we can have a lifetime guarantee against manufacturer’s defects.
I haven’t seen this before—How long has the g-Spout been out?
This IS a brand new product that is JUST starting to make its way into the market. It’s such a simple idea that even we are surprised that someone didn’t think of it a long time ago. But, here we are, and we feel fortunate. The first time the g-Spout was seen in public was in August 2009 at the Gourmet Housewares Show, where it was very well received. Very soon, we believe you will find the g-Spout everywhere! But for now, you are one of the first to know about it. Please tell your friends about it!
I Broke/Burnt the plastic clip – can I get a new one?
- Yes. The clips are made out of reinforced nylon, and designed to be incredibly strong and withstand heat just like the silicone spouts themselves, but it can burn if it was positioned over a flame.
- If you would like to send it to us, and we see that it has a defect, we will certainly replace it for you. Contact customer service at 888-898-5934 for more information If, after inspection, there is a manufacturing defect we will replace it for you. If there was no manufacturing defect, we will still replace it for you but there may be a small fee for the clip, shipping, and fulfillment.
I’m worried the g-Spout will leak or fall off the pan.
If the g-Spout is properly attached and oriented so that the “bump” tips it forward and presses the bottom edge against the inside of the pan, you should not experience any leaking. If you are pouring something heavy, you may want to use your spoon or spatula to help hold the spout onto the pan when you pour. Make sure that your hand is far enough away from any hot surface.
Is there anything I can’t pour with the g-Spout?
We manufacture the g-Spout using the best Silicone available and we believe you can use it to pour anything that isn’t too heavy, from cooking grease to paint and motor oil.
